The Orillia Violin Studio
Enthusiastic teaching for motivated students

A native of Montréal, violinist MARIE-CAROLINE BOURQUE is an active performer and experienced teacher. Having studied at some of the most prestigious musical institutions in North America, her teachers have included David Cerone, David Updegraff, Claude Richard, and Walter Prystawski. Mrs. Bourque was a two-time winner of the National Arts Centre Bursaries Competition, a laureate of the 1997 Czech and Slovak Music Competition in Montréal, and a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition for several years. She has presented solo and chamber music recitals in the United States and Canada, and her performances have been featured on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada. As a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra (Ohio) for seven seasons, she performed major works of the orchestral repertoire under Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann, and with such guest solo artists such as André Watts, Karen Gomyo, Sharon Isbin, Edgar Meyer, Orion Weiss, and Desmond Hoebig. An avid teacher, Mrs. Bourque was teaching assistant to David Updegraff at The Cleveland Institute of Music from 2001 to 2003, and has maintained a studio of dedicated students for the past 15 years. Mrs. Bourque is a mother of four young children, and is thrilled to join the musical scene in Orillia and the surrounding area!
